![]() The city already owns 58 acres on the site, which like Rigden Reservoir is a former gravel mine. ![]() The park will be located east of the intersection of Drake and Ziegler roads and north of Rigden Reservoir. Years of planning and collecting development impact fees to pay for the facility will pass before that is decided.īut park planners know a few things about the future facility, which has the working name of East Community Park. What theme the city’s next community park would carry remains to be seen. The 54-acre park carries an agricultural theme reflected in its playground, which includes the silos and amenities such as a large community garden, hops trestles and an orchard. A highlight was the illumination of the former grain silos from which the $16 million park gets its name. Residents and city officials on Thursday enjoyed a ribbon-cutting celebration for Twin Silo Park near the intersection of Ziegler and Kechter roads. I would like to see how many late night dogs show up when there is actually light! I think that is just a matter of writing the city government to petition for a lamp to be installed there. The only con to this dog park is that there isn’t a light post for the evening dog park goers. Anything else I can easily get with a wire brush that is used for preventing mats, and then wipe away with a wet wipe. After he wrestles for hours at the dog park, I like to just ruffle his hair and then make him shake, sending a big cloud of dirt/dust into the air. The dirt/finely crushed gravel easily brushes out of my dog’s hair once it dries. There is nothing directly west of the dog park that obstructs the view of the mountains, so it is always a beautiful scene in the evenings. Many bowls are provided/left in the park for dogs.Īnother fun thing to note is there are fantastic sunset views there. There is also a fairly large separate shy/small dog area, and a fountain for filling water bowls and bottles just outside the park (where owners of both shy and large dogs can access it). Once we turn left at the roundabout, our dog starts going crazy! We actually moved to the south side of town because we were spending so much of our day just driving to and from Twin Silos Dog Park. My dog also has many friends there because we are all regulars that come almost daily. It is often just the right number of dogs. There are very rarely too many dogs for the space. It is large enough for the dogs to get those crazy zoomie runs in, but not so big that you can’t intervene if there is an incident with another dog. We have also tried Soft Gold Dog Park, Spring Canyon (Horsetooth) Dog Park, Fossil Creek Dog Park, and the dog park near CSU’s Annual Trial Garden. This is my favorite dog park of the options in town.
